Biography

In July 2025, the couple Suslovs with a one-year-old child were forced to return to Kurgan, which is 1700 kilometers from their home — Igor was summoned for interrogation by the Investigative Committee because of his faith. The family had to leave their usual way of life: home, garden, work.

Igor Suslov was born in October 1979 in Kurgan. He has an elder sister. His father worked as a foreman at an automobile repair plant, and his mother worked as an engineer in the planning department of the same enterprise. Now she is retired. His father died during the pandemic.

Since childhood, Igor loved walking in nature, especially winter hikes in the forest on skis with his father. His mother's passion for floriculture instilled in the boy a sense of beauty. During his school years, he was fond of photography and attended a military sports club.

As a teenager, Igor got involved in a bad company, which led to his alcohol and drug abuse. As a result, he was transferred to an evening school.

In 1994, Igor's mother began studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses, and later the whole family joined her. Igor said: "The changes in my life began when I read a book about the creation of life. After that, I took the Bible from my parents, began to study it and realized that I was wrong in many ways. I left bad habits and bad surroundings, found real friends and real joy in life." Igor found answers to questions that had bothered him since childhood. In 1998, he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Igor trained as an electrician and worked in this specialty in various organizations. At the same time, he was engaged in portrait photography. Since 2005, he has been doing alternative civilian service in a psychoneurological dispensary for three and a half years.

Igor met his wife, Irina, in 2012 in Gorno-Altaisk. They got married in August 2015. Irina is a tailor and groomer. In April 2024, the couple had a daughter. The family loves to spend time in nature, travel, ski and bike.

The persecution of Igor for his faith in God had a heavy impact on the elderly parents of the Suslovs. Igor had to cope with stress with the help of medication.
